This coffee is grown in Costa Rica’s Central Valley, which is renowned for its specialty coffee. The high elevation, frequent rains, volcanic soil, and innovative farming techniques create a perfect environment for growing interesting and unusual hybrid varietals.
Steven Vargas and his father run the Don Sabino micro-mill, which oversees the Finca El Orvo farm. They grow several varietals, such as Villa Sarchi, Obata, Catuai and SL-28. The Vargas family primarily produces natural process coffee, with the occasional honey process lot.
